Dean Creasie Finney Hairston is a pioneer in the development of family programs for correctional populations and has conducted research and written extensively on the impact of incarceration on families and communities. Her publications on social policies and services affecting poor children and families appear in leading academic and professional journals and texts and in the popular press. In addition, Hairston leads the Jane Addams Center for Social Policy and Research and serves as principal investigator on the UIC Behavioral Health Crisis Hub, among other research projects.
